The Pacific Northwest is home to some of the most iconic architecture in the United States. Through this Playing Card Artwork Project Notkin wanted to provide a unique outlet for the architects who have sculpted our built environment, showcasing their artistry and creativity in a unique and compelling way. The architects contributing to this deck provided original pieces of artwork based on randomly assigned playing cards. Their only constraints were the theme “Architecture of the Pacific Northwest”, artwork size, and a request to refrain from using their firm’s name in the artwork. We hope that through this project our architect friends have had fun, discovered something new about themselves, and forged a greater connection among their peers. We have enjoyed getting to know each firm better and working with their teams to produce this unique book and playing card deck.
We are excited about the future of the architecture in the Pacific Northwest. With the amazing landscape, natural resources, and historic legacy to build upon, and with such a great local collection of talented engineers and architects we look forward towards seeing the next generation of creative and inspiring projects built in this region and beyond.
