Principal Elizabeth Moggio will be discussing “Lessons Learned: Decision-Making in Fast-Paced Progressive Design-Build from the 2021 DBIA Project of the Year” at the 2022 Design-Build Conference and Expo.
The University of Washington Hans Rosling Center for Population Health is a world-class center for developing solutions for a healthier world population. Awarded the DBIA 2021 Project of the Year, Excellence in Architecture, and National Award – Educational Facilities, it was delivered with a limited, fixed budget and on an astonishingly fast schedule. Along the way, the team learned many lessons on what it means to actively facilitate an engaging, consensus based decision-making process with the University of Washington and the multiple end-user agencies and stakeholders of the facility making an ambitious schedule possible. This presentation will dive into those lessons learned, from setting the progressive design-build project governance up for success, defining the project before designing, making the right decisions at the right time to move the design forward smoothly, and finally transitioning into fast paced construction to achieve a quick turnover date.
Other speakers include Brian Aske, DBIA from Lease Crutcher Lewis and Jeannie Natta from the University of Washington.
