Miller Hull

Eric Nothdurft

AIA, Senior Associate

Seattle Studio

Eric is the kind of architect who’s always looking up. Literally. Though he leads projects and finds great joy in developing partnerships with his team and clients, Eric is also fascinated by lighting, and has been an avid lighting design enthusiast for much of his career. “A good building can be made extraordinary through light,” he contends. To Eric, to be an architect is to understand the visual experience of a building, and how to control and modify that experience in the day or night, during the peak of a sunny day or the middle of a storm. With this passion and perspective, Eric manages many of Miller Hull’s most complex projects including numerous embassies around the world, driving teams to think through every angle of every user of the buildings experience.

Eric enjoys finding answers to all design questions, and especially loves pulling questions from other questions. “My goal is to help transcend the given program. To find solutions to not only our clients’ expressed goals, but to the ones they didn’t even know they had.” It’s through this process of digging deep to get to the core need that Eric is able to deliver not just something good, but something truly great.
