Miller Hull

Jake LaBarre

AIA, Associate

Seattle Studio

Jake’s architectural practice is informed by a three-legged stool approach balancing design, building and teaching. As an affiliate assistant professor at the University of Washington College of Built Environments, Jake leads the Neighborhood Design Build Studio and is a regular consultant at Auburn University’s Rural Studio. Teaching and lecturing about consensus-based design with his students and client groups reinforces the strength of building a great project team and keeps Jake rooted in the rich materiality of designing and building architecture.

Through 10 years of community projects designed and built by his students and his work at Miller Hull, Jake has seen the impact architecture can have on communities, believing everyone can and should have access to great design.

As an experienced Project Manager and Architect, Jake embraces projects benefiting from different voices, knowledge, passions, and skills. His intentional collaboration allows for the evolution of the Big Idea, of ourselves, and of our environments.
