Positioned at the epicenter between the Academic Core, the Student Housing district, and a future mixed-use neighborhood, the Student Success Center site will provide an important gateway and link between academic and student life. Made possible by a generous donations from Lynda and Stewart Resnick, and from Associated Students, Inc. (ASI), the Student Success Center will provide a new home for Career Services, expanding their presence and reach on campus with a focus on supporting first generation students. Synergistic programs that support and mentor students of all backgrounds will be co-located within the building, including EOP, TRIO, Cal Poly Scholars, a Wonderful Scholar Center and select Cultural Centers.

The concept for the Student Success Center is inspired from the project goal to be welcoming and inclusive to students of all backgrounds and abilities. In an effort to break down any perceived barriers or hurdles to accessing the student services within the building, the SSC will create a porous and inviting ground floor plane with direct access to certain student-focused programs directly from the street and central gathering area.

Key desire lines for pedestrian circulation have informed the building and site entrances. A central, outdoor commons area will pull students in from all directions and provide a welcoming and approachable point of arrival. From there, a feature stair and elevator will invite students up to the quieter, more service-focused programs on the upper floors. This thoughtfully designed facility enhances the campus fabric through clear, accessible circulation and usable outdoor program areas, celebrating the intersectionality between culture, community, and the holistic growth of each student as they prepare for their future.
